July 23, 2008: Judge Donald Molloy has imposed on injunction on wolf killing in Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.  This temporary victory will undoubtedly save many of these magnificent canines in the months to come.  Thank you Judge Molloy!

ENDANGERED LANDS

Do you know of a piece of land that serves as home for at risk, threatened, or an endangered species?  Would you like someone to step in save it before the construction crews arrive? Tell us about it.

Under The Baakari Foundation's Endangered Land Acquisition Project, we can purchase lands that are "at risk" of being developed.  Such land will be used to conserve habitat for at risk, threatened and endangered species.

DID YOU KNOW...

Joaquin Phoenix is a friend of animals.  His narration of the Nation Earth investigative documentary film "EARTHLINGS", is memorable.  This disturbing film is one of the most comprehensive on the topic of animal abuse in the past decade.

We love you, Joaquin!

ANIMALS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Meet Lonesome George.

Researchers believe that George is the last surviving Pinta Tortoise, native to Pinta Island of the Galapogos.  George's age is not known, but he is predicted to be about 90 years old.  He was discovered in 1971 and has lived at the Charles Darwin Research Station (CDRS) located on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos, Ecuador ever since.

FILMS IN DEVELOPMENT

"Beyond the Big Top"
a documentary film

The Baakari Foundation, Inc. goes behind the scenes.  As we go inside and beyond the big top circus tent, we'll reveal what happens to  show animals behind the scenes and after they are deemed no longer useful.   It is Baakari's hope that our undercover investigation will move humanity to call for a ban on these archaic animal shows.  (learn more about this project)

Creatures in Peril

The Norwegian Wolf...
less than 10 remain.

It's absolutely unconscionable that Norway would allow one wolf a year to be "culled" from their critically endangered wolf population of less than 10 wolves... yet that's the reality.  No pups were born in 2007, and 2008 hasn't seen any either.

The Baakari Creative character, NEKA the Night Sentinal, helps bring the plight of this magnificent canine to light.

What can you do?  Spread the word and help support a Baakari Foundation PSA (Public Service Announcement) on the topic.  Please.  Donate Now.
